Abstract
India is one of the few places in the world where indigenous communities are not confined to history. They are our contemporaries, and continue to practice a range of rich and vibrant traditional art forms. This book is the result of a radical dialogue with various folk and tribal artists on an important subject - the museum. Much of what we know and learn about these traditional cultures is through their representation in museums. Anthropological museums, in particular, are important sites that showcase their art and culture
